MSc Bioinformatics, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)

Saurav began his research journey at ACTREC–Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, where he gained hands-on experience in laboratory research with animal models and worked on projects in cancer biology. He later completed his MSc in Bioinformatics from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). During his master’s research, he studied gene regulation in HIV using computational approaches, which sparked his interest in bioinformatics and data analysis. He also worked in the biobank industry for a short period before joining the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, as an HPC Administrator. His work involved maintaining high-performance computing systems for genomics and proteomics research, as well as developing pipelines for biological data analysis. Currently, as a Staff Associate I, his research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that control cell division during embryogenesis.

When he's not in the lab, Saurav enjoys getting lost in anime worlds, reading fantasy novels, singing along to music, sketching, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring new places.
